Driving Trip - Roosevelt Mountain Scenic Overlook

This sidetrip will take you from Interstate 40 (exit 347) down State Route 27 in a southerly direction towards Rockwood, TN.  You may want to consider stopping and grabbing a picnic lunch to take with you before you drive up the mountain.  As you get to the outskirts of Rockwood, you will see the signs for State Route 70 heading up the mountain.  Take that right turn and begin the meandering drive up Mount Roosevelt.  Watch for the scenic turnout sign near the top of the mountain.  Once you get to the top, you can see the Smokey Mountains to the east, the area near Spring City in Rhea County to the south, and across the Plateau to the west.  Well worth the fifteen minutes of driving time from the interstate.
