2021 Cornstalk Heights Historical Community Organization Christmas Tour of Homes

Celebrate the spirit of a Cornstalk Heights Christmas.  Explore our charming turn of the century neighborhood, visit one of the last remaining Carnegie Libraries, and see some of the finest historic homes build in Harriman --the 'Town that Temperance Built!" - Victorian architecture and charm are only a part of your experience as you are greeted by warm faces of the residents and hear their tales of Harriman's history.  Your tour will start at one of the last remaining Carnegie Libraries, where you will purchase your tickets.  Your tour will consist of 10 beautifully decorated homes, 2 historic churches, as well as, enjoying home baked goodies at our very own Hospitality House, all decorated for the Christmas season.  All homes are circa 1890's to early 1900's.

Saturday tours begin at 12:00 pm (noon) until 6:00 pm, Sunday tours begin at 1:00 pm  until 6:00 pm.  The starting point for tours is the Harriman Library at 601 Walden Ave. and participants are able to visit the homes at their own pace (ticket entry is good for both days).  Tickets may be purchased for $15.00/guest, $5.00 for children under 12 at the Library the day of the tours.  Children 5 and under are free.

The majority of the homes and churches are within the Cornstalk Heights Residential Community, which is a Registered Historic District designated but eh US Dept. of the Interior.  Historic Harriman was founded in 1890, when the Great Land Sale auctioned off downtown and residential lots during the last 3 days of February 1890.  Most residences within the Cornstalk Heights Historic District are Victorian style dating back to this time.  Other historic home styles on tour are also vintage (no homes on tour are recent construction or in active renovation).
