Why is K-14 Important for Roane County?
K-14 would immediately set the path for every student in Roane County on a higher trajectory. All students would receive credit for at least 3-4 college classes while in high school.
Statistically, people with “some college” make $250,000 more over a career than people with
only a high school diploma.
Bringing more students together enables Roane County Schools to offer many more programs than currently available at 5 separate places.
Local business and industry would have key roles in supporting and determining the programming taught within the school that would create ready and skilled employees for jobs right here at home.
Increasing educational attainment is directly linked with a community’s standard of living
and overall quality of life.
Transportation, or lack thereof, is one of the main reasons why people fail to pursue post-secondary education. If post-secondary education was already offered where transportation was provided,
that barrier is removed.
